I am deeply saddened and outraged by the violent attack on Charlie Kirk during his visit to Utah Valley University. As Chair of the Republican Party of Merced County, and as a follower of Christ, I condemn this act in the strongest possible terms.
Violence—especially political violence—is never justified. It is not only an assault on an individual, but on the very principles of free speech, civil discourse, and democratic engagement that our nation was built upon. As Christians, we are called to be peacemakers. Scripture tells us in Romans 12:17–18: “Do not repay anyone evil for evil… If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
This attack is a stark reminder of the growing hostility toward conservative voices in our country. But we must respond not with vengeance, but with resolve, prayer, and unity. I call on all Americans—regardless of party—to reject violence and recommit ourselves to respectful dialogue and the rule of law.
My prayers are with Charlie Kirk, his family, and all those affected.
May God bring healing, justice, and peace.
